One of the most iconic names in UK rave history, World Dance, returns this August Bank Holiday with a day warehouse takeover at 42 River Rd, Barking IG11 0DW. Running from 4 PM to 4 AM on Saturday, 23rd August, this Carnival weekend celebration marks a return to East London, and to the roots of the scene. Expect stacked speakers, full lighting rigs, and a raw, no-nonsense setup built for proper ravers. World Dance is one of the UK’s original large-scale rave promoters, first established in 1989. Its almost unmatched pedigree and pioneering role in shaping the UK’s late-night licensing landscape helped move dance music from underground culture into the mainstream, laying the foundations for the global electronic music scene.

Across the ‘90s and early 2000s, World Dance became synonymous with massive crowds, heavyweight sound systems, and a pure rave atmosphere that drew in thousands. Their legendary events at venues like Lydd Airport were known for jaw-dropping scale and intensity, helping set the standard for large-scale UK raves throughout the era. This return nods to the spirit of the original underground warehouse parties, stripped-back, powerful, and rooted in community. Jungle, Hardcore, Classic House and Reggae, the building blocks of the UK rave sound, will take over the space, honouring the genres that fuelled the movement. The 2025 edition will carry that same DNA: massive scale, raw energy, and that unmistakable World Dance atmosphere - built by ravers, for ravers. The lineup includes many of the artists who helped define the World Dance sound, original pioneers returning to the decks where it all began.
