There are Sevens weekends… and then there’s Tynedale.
Back in 1894, Tynedale RFC became the first English club to host Rugby Sevens — a legacy that still defines this event today. That’s why the Tynedale Rugby Sevens proudly wears the title: England’s Original Sevens.
In June 2026, the tournament returns for two packed days of rugby, atmosphere, and proper festival energy — with competitions for every level of team, from social squads to serious contenders.

Friday 19th June: The Weekend Kicks Off
Friday night sets the tone with two brilliant formats designed to get teams playing early and enjoying the evening: Women’s Touch Rugby Competition Men’s Vets Ten-a-Side Competition It’s the perfect opener: competitive, social, and a great way to roll into the weekend with your squad.

Saturday 20th June: A Full Day of Sevens Action
Saturday is where the Sevens tradition hits full stride, with multiple tournaments running across the day:

• Men’s Open (playing for the Stu Ridley Trophy)
• Women’s Open
• Men’s Social

Whether you’re chasing silverware, building a women’s programme, or just bringing a group for a top-class rugby weekend, there’s a competition with your name on it.

Rugby Meets Festival: Beer, Cider & a Big Weekend Atmosphere
The Sevens weekend coincides with the Tynedale Beer & Cider Festival — one of the North East’s best-loved community events, held in the stunning setting of Tynedale Rugby Club in Corbridge. Expect a proper summer festival feel: great drinks, food, entertainment, and a crowd that knows how to enjoy a weekend.

Make a Weekend of It: Camp at the Club
This isn’t a “turn up and head home” kind of tournament. It’s a weekend to do properly.
Teams are encouraged to stay over and camp at the club, soak up the festival atmosphere, and make it a proper tour-style experience — all in one of Northumberland’s most picturesque rugby settings.
