Thinking about a LAMDA qualification?

Curious Theatre Company offers online LAMDA Speech and Drama tuition, preparing students for internationally recognised LAMDA examinations, from Entry Level through to Grade 8.

LAMDA qualifications are widely respected by schools, colleges and universities, and higher grades carry UCAS tariff points. More importantly, they support young people to develop communication skills, confidence and a strong, clear speaking voice in a structured but supportive way.

All tuition is now delivered online, making it accessible to students across the UK and beyond.

What we offer

We prepare students for solo and duo LAMDA examinations, most commonly in Acting, although we also support candidates in:

Verse and Prose

Public Speaking

Devising Drama

Musical Theatre

Students work on one, two or three pieces, depending on the grade. At the start, we carefully discuss and agree the most appropriate grade, taking into account experience, confidence, communication style and readiness.

Our approach is text-led and thoughtful. We work on pieces in the same way we would approach professional theatre work: exploring meaning, intention, voice, physicality and communication, rather than “performing” for performance’s sake.

A neurodiversity-affirming approach

Curious has extensive experience working with neurodivergent students, including autistic young people, those with anxiety, ADHD, EBSA, or low confidence.

Lessons are:

paced to suit the individual

supportive rather than pressured

Confidence is built gradually and respectfully, allowing students to work in a way that suits how they think and process.

This approach is particularly effective for students who find traditional group drama classes overwhelming.

How we teach

All lessons are online

We offer daytime sessions as well as after-school options, making this especially suitable for home-educated students

Tuition is offered 1:1 or in pairs, depending on the exam

By focusing closely on the text and on efficient, high-quality preparation, we keep teaching hours purposeful while maintaining high standards. Our students consistently achieve strong results, with a very high proportion of Merits and Distinctions.

Exams: where and when

LAMDA examinations take place either:

locally in Hildenborough, Kent, or

at the LAMDA Examination Centre in London

Exams typically run once or twice a year, depending on the session and grade. We guide families through the full exam process, including entry, preparation and expectations on the day.
