Wave Blues Band pulls you into the electric world of Chicago and Delta blues.Get your mojo working and be spellbound by the soulful driving rhythms that will make you shake your tail feathers. The five piece Wave Blues Band come from South West Scotland, and are heavily influenced by blues artists such as Big Mama Thornton, Jimmy Reed and Howlin Wolf. The bands current line-up is;
Brian Thomson: Lead Guitarist/Vocals. In the 1960s Brian was a prolific guitar player during the Blues era in and around London. After he retired from being a Mechanical Design Engineer he decided to form the Wave Blues Band in 2012 alongside David Drife.
David Drife (aka Davie "sweet lips" Daydream): Harmonica. Born on the Salisbury Plains of Africa (so he says), a wanderer all his days David finally settled down in Dumfries and Galloway. Ten years ago David started Wave Blues Band with his friend Brian Thomson. Blues isn't Davie Daydream's only love, he also enjoys playing Eastern European and Folk music on his harmonica.
Susi Briggs: Vocalist. Susi Briggs joined the band in 2019 after a chance encounter with the Wave Blues Band when they played in Kirkcudbright Galleries.
Eric Macarthur: Drums. Eric joined the Wave Blues Band to play when their regular drummer was not available in 2017.
Ken Gouge: Bass Guitar. Ken is the newest member of the band. He played bass with a number of blues based bands around West London in the late sixties.
Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nathon Jones is founder of Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival and the brains behind The Vault Arts Centre so, as you’ve probably gathered, he’s passionate about music and live performance. His influences range from traditional Irish & Scottish folk music through to bluegrass/Americana, and everything in between. He will be joined by the local legend Easy Bob Reid who will blow you away with his smooth harmonica tunes!
