What you need to know

Join us for a 2 hour workshop where we will learn how to make and perform a Toy Theatre show! Pollock’s Toy Museum is named after the great, Victorian Toy Theatre printmaker, Benjamin Pollock. In this kid friendly workshop we explore this tradition and get creative! We are running two of these workshops; the first on Wednesday 18th August at 2-4pm and the second on Wednesday 25th August 2-4pm. Please select which you'd like to attend from the calendar above.

Book a place to...

  • decorate your own toy theatre and characters by colouring, collaging and “tinselling”

  • learn how to construct a toy theatre by cutting, folding and glueing,

  • have a play with ways to perform your mini show using sound effects, dramatic curtains and lighting!

Tickets are £15.

Each participant can take home their own Toy Theatre and set of characters to continue performing for the family.

The workshop will be led by Jack Fawdry Tatham and Emily Baker. Jack is a printmaker and great-grandson of the museum founder. Jack has delivered workshops for kids at Kew Garden, The Royal Drawing School and Bee Urban. Emily is an artist who has run workshops at Dulwich Picture Gallery and Bell House. Both are interested in keeping the tradition of toy theatre making alive and what a better place to do it then at Pollock’s Toy Museum!

This workshop is suitable for 6-11  year olds. We currently have space for 6 participants. Parents and guardian’s will be asked to be present for drop-off and pick-up only so we have enough space in the workshop! You are more than welcome to look around the Museum whilst you wait too!

This event will operate in line with the current Covid-19 Government guidelines. Please do not attend if you have any Covid-19 symptoms.
