"Marley was dead: to begin with" 

Step into our historic house this December and enjoy a performance of A Christmas Carol in the Elizabethan Sunderland Room. After all, what's festive without a little fright?

Your evening will begin in the medieval Baron's Hall where the central fire will be lit and the Buttery bar will be open for you to purchase a drink to enjoy as the sound of crackling fire fills the room. Before long it's time to make your way up the stairs to the Sunderland Room where your seats away for the show which will begin at 7.00pm.

This immersive one-man performance by Toby Burchell of Behind The Door Productions has been designed to be performed in historic houses just like ours, with a small audience in an intimate space, inviting you to become one with the story.

The Evening:

6.00pm: Doors open, Baron's Hall and Buttery Bar open

6.40pm: Sunderland Room open, time to find your seats

7.00pm: Performance begins

7.30pm: Interval

8.00pm: Show resumes

9.00pm: End of performance

The Venue:

Entrance and parking is via our private driveway.

Doors will open at 6.00pm when the Baron's Hall and Buttery Bar will be opened. Access to the Sunderland Room where the performance is being held is from 6.40pm. The performance begins promptly at 7.00pm.

The Sunderland Room is on the first floor and only accessible by a single, circular set of stairs. Toilets are on the ground floor. 

Performances last two hours including a brief intermission. 

Important things to remember

• All bookings are final. Refunds will not be offered except in the instance that the event is cancelled by the organiser.
• For this performance please arrive via the Private Driveway using Postcode TN11 8DH, on the B2176. The car park will then appear on your right.
• Arrivals are from 6.00pm. The performance begins at 7.00pm.
• No smoking is allowed at Penshurst Place
• Please note our bar will only be providing drinks.
• The performance will begin at 7pm and lasts for two hours with a short intermission. As such we expect the performance to finish at around 9.00pm.. 

Cancellations and Refunds:

This performance is arranged by Penshurst Place and performed by Behind The Door Productions. Penshurst Place provides a ticketing function through our partner, Live It.

In the instance of a cancellation of the performance by Penshurst Place or Behind The Door Productions, Penshurst Place will contact all bookers via email. Refunds will be made minus the booking fee.

• All refunds will be minus the £1.50 per ticket booking fee
