What you need to know
Computer World is a monthly club night dedicated to playing the very best of before, during and after the 80s electro pop, new wave and alternative / electronic music, with dashes of disco, punk and goth.....and the odd curveball here and there!
Named in honour of Kraftwerk's legendary 1981 album, 'Computer World' has run in Taunton monthly on a Saturday since summer 2021. We'll be delivering a 5 hour playlist blending classic synth-centric tunes you know by heart (so there's no excuse for not singing along!), as well as tunes you forgot you loved back in the day. It means we can stuff the playlist with over 80 tracks, including classics like....

This is the final CW session of the year, and with it being just two weeks before Santa sneaks his way down your metaphorical chimney, what better excuse do we need to deliver a playlist built to offer you plenty of opportunities for 'Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing' (thanks, Soft Cell!), or if you prefer, 'Love And Dancing' (likewise to The League Unlimited Orchestra / The Human League!)....we may even sneak in one or two festively themed tunes for The Early Hour from 7.30pm, and perhaps the odd slice of mild cheese later on once enough Dutch Courage has been acquired for the dancefloor!
Come in your finest festive clobber, sparkliest outfits (a nod to Martin Fry would be great!) or you most loved band T-shirt if you prefer....whatever, just come along! It'll be a busy one, so make sure you secure your place nice and early!

VENUE LOCATION: The Lawns Social Club is located in the heart of Taunton, on the A38, opposite the High Street car park, and a 15 minute walk from the railway station.
ABOUT PARKING: There is a small car park on site, and a much larger public car park directly opposite the venue which is usually free after 6pm (but do check the signage on arrival to verify this). Should you be lucky enough to find a space in the on-site car park, you will be required to enter your registration number on a tablet within 10 minutes of parking up. The tablet is located at the main reception. Failure to do so will incur a hefty fine which we won't be able to overturn!
ABOUT SEATING: Please note that The Lawns Social Club has ample unreserved seating, but purchasing a ticket doesn't guarantee you a seat, so with that in mind you should aim to arrive for the event as early as you possibly can. Exception: we will reserve a seat in advance for the mobility-impaired and wheelchair users, who should contact the organiser (JD Events) immediately upon ticket purchase should a seat or space be required.
FOOD & BEVERAGE AVAILABILITY: The Lawns Social Club offers a full bar service from 6pm, and a range of hot and cold bar snacks and meals. Call them directly nearer the time to inquire about what's on the menu - 07891 996010. Alternatively, there are many restaurant or fast food choices a stone's throw away.
ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS: There are two hotels within a few minutes walk of The Lawns Social Club - 1) The Corner House Hotel, and, 2) The Taunton House Hotel. There are also two Premier Inn hotels within a 5 minute drive.
