What you need to know

This booking page is for BSL Interpreted Jousting & Falconry. This includes access to the Castle & Gardens depending upon the ticket type chosen. 

Jousting will take place in the Event Field, starting at 14:15. The BSL interpretation area will be open from 13:00. The BSL interpretation area will be sign posted and roped off from the general public. To gain access to this area please show your booking confirmation The jousting will last around one hour. Seating will be on the grass.

If you are visiting the Castle, there will be a BSL interpreter inside the Castle 10:30 – 13.00 & 15:45 – 17:00. The Castle is usually busiest in the afternoons on jousting days. A Castle ticket is required.

BSL interpreted Falconry Displays will also be available on the day at 11:30 & 15:45.

Visitors with Accessible Needs: Booking a BSL Jousting ticket provides you with entry to the BSL corner of the jousting field, where the interpreters will be situated. Space within this area will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Standard charges apply to visitors with accessible needs, general admission for carers is free of charge. See details below.

Falconry does not need to be booked. There is no dedicated BSL area, but an interpreter will be present during the displays and be on hand afterwards to allow visitors to ask any questions to the bird handlers.

A BSL interpreter will also be available inside the castle until 13:00, and again once the jousting has finished. In order to include the Castle in your visit please select a Castle & Gardens ticket when booking.

WHO NEEDS TO BOOK?

Carers – Standard charges apply to visitors with accessible needs, carers are free of charge and should select a Carer ticket. Proof of disability will be requested on arrival, which may include a Blue Badge, statement of special educational needs from LEA or NHS, or a letter from a medical professional on NHS headed paper or a DLA letter from the department of Work & Pensions, Attendance Allowance, Incapacity Benefit or National DID Card. We do not accept carer cards. If you arrive without this information payment in full will be requested on arrival.

B&B Guests  All Hever Castle B&B guests receive complimentary access to the Castle and grounds during opening hours on the day of arrival, the day of departure and all days in between. Outside of opening hours, and on days when the Castle and grounds are closed, guests can enjoy access to some parts of the gardens.
