Rey Yusuf [award-winning contemporary folk band Tell Tale Tusk; dream-folk band Something Sleeps] and Victoria Couper [a cappella trio Voice; world-jazz ensemble Grand Union Orchestra; established early music groups Joglaresa and Musica Secreta] met performing with Greek Epic-inspired band Daemonia Nymphe. In between bonding over taking kettles and teabags on tour, they have spent many years improvising and exploring together. They are excited to share their new collaboration with you here today delving into folk, world, and early music, and their own compositions. Expect ukulele, harpsicle (small lever harp, not strange new harp-shaped popsicle), percussion, and voices. Your participation will be welcomed and encouraged.
Tightrope Moon cast a silver web over their audiences as violin, viola and vocals entwine in celestial sounds and hypnotic melodies. From gronky re-imaginings of English, Swedish and American tunes to delicate compositions and ethereal improvisations, their spiralling melodies feel like secrets whispered in the dark.
The duo’s electrifying groove-based tunes create a sound that is otherworldly, yet deeply rooted in tradition. Their songs spin out stories old and new, as haunting vocal harmonies floating over delicate pizzicato latticework. Tales of the forest merge with daydreams in the big city as they infuse acoustic instruments with eerie experimental electronics.
