This trio formed met as part of the London Irish trad scene and quickly bonded over a mutual love of English trad. and Appalachian old time music. This record was made as an reflection of their musical backgrounds with an emphasis on feel, groove and a minimalist approach to English traditional music.

This album is one of English traditional music from most parts of England. It’s an honest and exposed record of three trad musicians at the top of their game. You will hear flavours of various external influences in their playing, in the same way that English music has always been nourished by multiculturalism.

The name ‘Sun in the Sands’ comes from a concrete roundabout on the A2 in Blackheath, itself named after a pub which has been on the site since the 18th century. The generations of musicians in the story of this music reflect the layers of history and peoples’ lives buried in the geography of London.
