London-based Soprano Emily Jennings is a song specialist and passionate recitalist with a particular fondness for folk music and storytelling. Described as ‘an extremely engaging singer with not only a marvellous instrument but a real gift for storytelling’ (Association of English Singers and Speakers), Emily is a Britten Pears Young Artist (cohort of 2023-24) as an Elizabeth Harwood Memorial Award holder. Emily is also a SongEasel Young Artist (cohort of 2023-24). Emily was recently selected to perform in the live rounds of the 2024 Wigmore Hall International Song Competition.
She was also awarded 2nd Prize in the Association of English Singers and Speakers’ English Song Competition as well as 2nd Prize in the London Choral Sinfonia’s Leach Award for Singing Competition. Emily is delighted to have been selected as a 2025 Fellow for the Cincinnati Song Initiative’s Fellowship of the Song. Emily is a passionate performer of art song with a particular fondness for folksongs and storytelling and loves nothing more than to curate and perform recitals with collaborative musicians; she frequently performs in London and beyond and relishes the opportunity to give lesser known works a platform as well as bring recitals to ‘out of the ordinary’ locations. She has performed at Wigmore Hall, the Britten Studio at Snape Maltings and the Cadogan Hall amongst many of the UK’s most exciting recital platforms. Emily has a long love of folk music and was thrilled to make her solo debut at Glastonbury Festival last year where she performed a self-accompanied recital of traditional folk songs and English art songs on the Mandala Stage in the Green Futures Field. She regularly partakes in traditional folk music sessions across the UK and beyond.
