Cloudchord is the renowned producer of the latest Disco Biscuits (Philly based!) digital releases as well as a long beloved guitarist and practitioner of Live Electronica. After several years as a Brooklyn-based touring act called D.V.S*. Derek moved to Austin and rebranded himself as Cloudchord. The creative focus was to be on the chill sides of dance music (from chillhop to deep house), while featuring live guitar and lap steel. Out of the gate, he scored 6 consecutive number one remixes on Hype Machine. In 2014, a call came to score the documentary “In Football We Trust.” The work premiered at Sundance in 2015, and won an Emmy in 2017.

The Disco Biscuits are an entirely different band today than they were when they first broke out of Philadelphia in the mid-90s. That’s not to say that they’ve abandoned their foundation, switched gears or set sail for distant shores. The Disco Biscuits are still very much the pioneers of “trancefusion,” bridging the gap between electronic music and jam bands. They still remain rock pioneers whose soul belongs as much to marathon dance parties as it does to live improvisational journeys.
