MARTINEZ addresses the foibles of aging and loneliness with subtle humor and a different style. Chilean actor Francisco Reyes, from the acclaimed Oscar-winning film “A Fantastic Woman,” stars as Martinez, a grumpy, lonely old man who is disciplined, methodical whose accounting job is characterized by doing number calculations and filing papers. He is a silent creature of limited habits, and under the circumstances of his outward appearance, he's aging rather gracefully.

A daily routine of laps in the pool and late-night reading keeps him physically fit and intellectually curious, but he clearly lacks a social life. Humberto Busto and Claudia Moreno in their secondary roles, enrich their characters with a set of peculiarities and eccentricities. The film assumes generational conflicts and treats them with a lot of humor, painting a humble and moving portrait of a life lived once, but with a second opening that sparks a true experience. It is never too late to start living.
