Chiddingstone Castle - Historic House and Museum
Visit to discover the fascinating Japanese, Stuart and Jacobite, Buddhist, and Ancient Egyptian collections whilst exploring the building. Find out about the previous owners and the history of this historic home. Take in the grandeur of The Great Hall, White Rose Room, Victorian Kitchen, Library, Study, Four Poster Room and Servant’s Hall. If you visit during the summer the inner courtyard is filled with colourful fragrant roses.
Outside discover the Grade II* listed Victorian Orangery, enchanting woodland walks, a fishing lake and spectacular views across the Kent countryside for all. The quaint castle tea room offers light lunches, traditional cream teas and homemade cakes as well as pre-booked full afternoon teas.
New Admission Tickets - Pay for a day, return free for a year!
We have launched new admission tickets for 2025. When you purchase your Castle entry your ticket will now be valid for 12 months so you can return to visit for free as many times as you like. Take the time to enjoy our collection talks and tours throughout the year or join us at our various family events during all of the school holidays. We are really excited about the amazing value* for money this ticket offers our visitors. Making the historic house and museum more accessible to more people.
(Ticketed special events are excluded - fairs and festivals, live music, open air theatre - all individual event information is on the castle What's On page. The annual ticket is valid from the date of purchase for twelve consecutive months and once issued, the annual ticket is not refundable and non transferable)
New Opening Hours - Open 5 Days a Week
Our opening hours have changed. Please note our new opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm. We will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Feel free to take a walk around the castle grounds which are open all year from 7am – 6.30pm, subject to private events. Parking is £3 for the day. Please use the honesty boxes or the QR code on the signs for payment. Please keep all dogs on leads. Fishing is also available, see our website for more information.

We have a bumper year ahead for events.Visit for a variety of Talks and Tours within the castle, Fairs and Festivals in the grounds, or enjoy al fresco entertainment outside at The Orangery.
